Joanna Peterson holds a Juris Doctor Cum Laude from Vermont Law School. She also holds a B.A. in English Literature and double minor in Government and Human Development from Connecticut College. While in law school, Ms. Peterson served as the Web-Editor for the Vermont Journal of Environmental Law, President of the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association, Vice-President of the Student Community Outreach and Education Association, and Secretary of the Women’s Law Group. She was also a Judge Reiss Scholar and a Jonathan J. Williams Memorial Fellow.

As an Associate Attorney with the Nanuet, New York office, Ms. Peterson focuses her practice on immigrant and nonimmigrant matters which include H-1B, L-1A/L-1B, H-3, and EB-1 petitions as well as E-2 and EB-5 foreign investor programs.

Her prior work experience includes Peace Corps Sierra Leone teaching English, nonprofit humanitarian immigration work, civil rights law with a focus on police brutality and excessive force with Amnesty International, and employment, family-based, and appeals applications with the Office of Chief Counsel for United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.
